To be able to come to our getaways and experiences it is important to apply through our application located on the programs page. This is a lengthly application however it is important to answer every question so we can gather as much information about the participant as possible. We recommend a parent or guardian fills out this application.
Understanding Early Signs of Autism: FAQs
Social Signs
- Few or no 'social smiles': Children usually respond with a smile when smiled at or talked to.
- Not turning when their name is called: Paying attention to other sounds but not their name.
- Not following an adult's gaze or point: Not acknowledging when an adult points out something.
- Avoiding eye contact:Limited or reduced eye contact.
- Being happy to be left alone: Preferring solitude over interaction.
- Not sharing enjoyment: Not showing things like toys to parents.
Communication Signs:
- Little or no babbling by 12 months: Limited vocalisation.
- Not using gestures: Not pointing, reaching, or waving by 12-14 months.
- Very few or no words: Limited speech development.
- Echoing speech: Repeating what others say.
- Giving unrelated answers: Not responding appropriately to questions.
- Loss of speech or gestures: Any regression in speech or communication skills.
Behavioural Signs:
- Upset at routine changes: Becoming distressed with minor changes.
- Unusual behaviors: Engaging in repetitive actions like flapping or rocking.
- Rigid play patterns: Preferring repetitive play with toys.
- Unusual sensory responses: Sensitivity or insensitivity to sensory inputs.
- Fussy eating habits: Limited food preferences.
- Sleep disturbances: Experiencing sleep-related challenges.
Remember, while these signs can be indicative of autism, each child is unique, and a professional assessment is essential. If you have concerns about your child's development, consult your GP who can provide guidance or refer you to specialists for further evaluation and support.
Depending on where the trip is being held, transport, accomodation, activites and participants registered will determine the overall cost per head.
